Journal: Write a letter to a friend explaining to them why the people were excited about communism during the Russian Revolution.
Objective: Finish notes on Russia, explain the Balkan conflict and how it impacted people during the breakup of Yugoslavia.
Classwork: Finish notes, watch ESPN 30 for 30 "Once Brothers"

Homework: THEME for assigned country in Europe.

October 26/27, 2011

Journal: Write down 2 pros and 2 cons of the European Union.
Objective: Know the basic history of Russia and the events that led to the development of communism. Explain communism and its impact on Eastern Europe.
Classwork: Finish EU notes from last time, lecture notes on Russia

Homework: Breathe easy, make sure you're caught up. Remember....you have one extra day in the schedule...the test on Europe will not be until Thursday and Friday of next week!

October 24/25 2011

Journal: 1. Write down everything you know about the European Union. 2. What are you going to do to fix your grade before the end of the term?
Objective: Learn about the European Union and know the factors that influence wealth.
Classwork: Notes on EU, make a giant map of the EU, answer questions.

Homework: Get caught up and complete the Term Culture Assignment!

Journal: Write down EVERYTHING that comes to mind when you think of Europe (at least 15 things) to play last man standing.
Objective: Describe four distinct cultural regions within Europe.
Classwork: Last man standing, Jigsaw notes on Europe, Important Books

Homework: Complete any notes you need to finish from Chapter 12 and complete the important book (you'll need to see me for this part, but the Chapter 12 notes are found under the Europe section on the blog).

REMEMBER: If you have a C or below, get your grades signed by your parents and make sure you talk to me about completing all of your work!

Journal: Have you ever experienced a natural disaster? If so, what was it like? If not, write down everything you already know about natural disasters.
Objective: Describe natural disasters, specifically the earthquakes and tsunamis in Haiti, Chile, Indonesia, and Japan.
Classwork: Lecture notes and videos on natural disasters, class gallery walk

Homework: Complete your theme for next time! Also, don't forget to organize your notebook and be ready for the notebook check AND test that's coming in 2 class periods!

Objective: Describe how the impact of guns, germs, and steel influenced the Spanish conquest of the Incas.
Classwork: I was not here this day (sub), and you got the guns, germs, and steel worksheet to answer while watching the movie. (I will attach the clips of the movie under the Latin America section of the blog, or you can find it on netflix).
Homework: Complete the essay on the back of the worksheet.

Objective: Understand and interpret population pyramids, find GDP, and explain the difference between developing and modern countries.
Classwork: Finish culture maps from last time, Read "If the World Were a Village", then work on population packets.

Homework: Finish the packet while reading Chapter 10 Section 1.
