Journal: Write down everything you know or think you know about Islam and Muslims, then next to each fact write how sure you are about the information.
Objective: Understand Islam and the basics behind the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
Classwork: Running timeline, notes on Islam, videos on the conflict

Homework: Write two paragraphs, one from the Israeli perspective, and one from the Palestinian perspective about why you are deserving of the land.

This unit schedule:

Day 1 Friday December 2nd/Monday December 5th

1. Begin running timeline

2. Learn about the basics of Islam

3. Describe the Israeli/Palestinian conflict

Homework: Write a paragraph from both a Palestinian and Israeli perspective; Read Chapter 18, Section 2 (pg. 443-449)

Day 2 December 6th/7th

1. Read about the two sides of the conflict

2. Israeli Peace Conference Activity

Homework: Find a current event about something in the Middle East; Read Chapter 18, section 3 and 4 (pg. 450-460)

Day 3 December 8th/9th

1. Compare the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan

Homework: Theme project on a Middle Eastern Country of your choice!; Read pg. 488-491 about Sunni and Shia Muslims

Day 4 December 12th/13th

1. Finish comparing recent conflicts in the Middle East

2. Visit from a veteran?

Homework: Complete Study Guide

Day 5 December 14th/15th

1. Test on the Middle East

Homework: Fill out map of Asia

Day 6 December 16th/19th

1. Begin Asia; watch “Inside North Korea”
